Double Degree in Information Technology with INSA Rennes, France

This double degree programme offers students a unique opportunity to combine international studies with advanced expertise in software engineering. By completing studies at both institutions, students graduate with degrees from both Åbo Akademi University and INSA while gaining valuable international experience and professional networks.

The programme is designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation alongside practical and research-oriented experience. A mandatory internship results in the completion of a master’s thesis. Through close collaboration between Åbo Akademi University and INSA, students are able to engage with diverse academic envinronments while developing the skills required in today’s rapidly evolving technology sector.

Åbo Akademi students going to INSA

Students enrolled in a Master’s programme in Information Technology at Åbo Akademi University may choose from three study tracks at INSA Rennes.

Those enrolling in the SIF (Computer Science) or I-MARS (Microtechnologies, Architecture, Networks and Communication Systems) Master programmes will complete one semester of studies at INSA Rennes in addition to a semester to complete a co-supervised master’s thesis.

Students pursuing the French diplôme d’ingénieur degree through the EII department will spend three semesters at INSA Rennes and wrap up the programme by completing a co-supervised internship resulting in a master’s thesis as part of the degree requirements.

INSA students coming to Åbo Akademi

The double degree programme is available to INSA students enrolled in the INFO and EII engineering tracks. Students originating from INSA Rennes will complete one semester of coursework at Åbo Akademi University, followed by a semester dedicated to their master’s thesis (internship). During their studies, students may choose from a range of thematic modules, enabling them to specialize in areas aligned with their interests and career aspirations.

Students enrolled in the programme will develop advanced competencies in software engineering and related fields, while also benefiting from opportunities to tailor their studies according to their academic and professional interests.

By combining academic excellence, international mobility and industry-relevant expertise, the programme prepares graduates for a wide range of career opportunities in software engineering, digital technologies and related industries.
