Global conference on chemical reaction engineering is coming to Turku in 2024

One of the world’s oldest and most prestigious conferences on chemical reaction engineering, the International Symposium on Chemical Reaction Engineering (ISCRE28), will take place in Turku in 2024.

The decision to locate the conference in Turku was taken by the Chemical Reaction Engineering Working Group of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE).

– This is a world-class global scientific event. It is also a great recognition of the Laboratory of Technical Chemistry and Reaction Engineering (TKR) at Åbo Akademi University, says Tapio Salmi, Academy Professor at TKR.

The first ISCRE conference was held in the 1950s and the greatest authorities in the field always attend. The event circulates between three continents (America/Europe/Asia) every two years, which means that Europe only hosts the conference every six years. Attendance is usually between 400 and 500 people. The last time the conference was held in Europe it was in Florence, Italy in 2018.

The conference will be held on 17–19 June 2024 and the scientific sessions will be held at the Logomo Cultural Centre. A gala dinner will be held at Turku Castle on 18.6.2024.
