Hoppet – Kieloikka: Strengthening language skills and inclusion at Åbo Akademi University

The Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland has granted the Language Centre funding for 2025 for a project, Hoppet – Kieliloikka, which aims to strengthen the language skills of the second national language among students at Åbo Akademi University.

The project aims to improve the Finnish language skills of Swedish-speaking students and to strengthen the inclusion of Finnish-speaking students in the university’s student life.

The project promotes linguistic understanding and support for language development through, among other things, joint activities and various types of supporting measures. This strengthens students’ ability to communicate in both Swedish and Finnish, increasing their future employability in a bilingual society.
