In spite of the growth in recent years, Colombia and Panama still require to shrink the existing gap between academia and industry. Despite the countries’ abundant talent pool and vibrant academic institutions, the collaboration between academia and industry remains fragmented and inadequate. This disjointed relationship not only hampers the translation of cutting-edge research into tangible innovations but also impedes the effective utilization of emerging technologies to address pressing societal needs.

In this project we will address Innovation in Higher Education through active engagement with the business world and with research, through enabling continuing educational programmes and activities with and within IT enterprises in Colombia and Panama. The project contribution will specifically address the overarching priority of the European Commission of sustainable growth and jobs by strengthening links between the academic sector, research and business in IT to address current and future skills needs, primarily entrepreneurship, and skills needed for value chains development on national and regional level. The project results will contribute to strengthening links with the labour market to promote the private sector involvement in skills-development joint activities with academia.
