The Chancellor appointed new docents 

The Chancellor of Åbo Akademi University, Marianne Stenius, has appointed seven new docents at Åbo Akademi University:

PhD Lovisa Andén, the title of docent in philosophy (The Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology) 

ThD Heidi Jokinen, the title of docent in theological ethics and the philosophy of religion (Faculty of Human and Social Sciences) 

PhD Hanna Kaasalainen, the title of docent in environmental geochemistry (Faculty of Science and Engineering) 

Psy.D. Patrik Wikman, the title of docent in perceptual neuroscience (The Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology) 

PhD Mia Åkerfelt, the title of docent in architectural history (The Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology) 

PhD (Econ.) Ilia Gugenishvili, the title of docent in international marketing (Faculty of Human and Social Sciences) 

PhD Milla Saarinen, the title of docent in developmental psychology (Faculty of Human and Social Sciences)

Upon application, the Chancellor of Åbo Akademi University may grant the title of docent to a person who has a doctoral degree and in-depth knowledge of his or her subject area and who has demonstrated through publications or in some other way his or her ability to conduct independent research or artistic work and has good teaching skills. To be admitted as a docent requires, as a rule, that the applicant, in addition to his or her doctoral thesis, has scientific publications that in scope and quality at least correspond to another doctoral thesis and are relevant to the subject area. The title of docent is granted until further notice.
