Nine new docents appointed

The Chancellor of Åbo Akademi University, Marianne Stenius, appointed nine new docents at Åbo Akademi University this spring. They are:

PhD Saara Hämälistö – FNT, the title of docent in cellular cancer biology
PeD Gunilla Karlberg-Granlund – FPV, the title of docent in Education with a Focus on Professional Learning
PhD Sabina Hadžibulic Bodin – FSEJ, the title of docent in cultural sociology
PhD Sanne Bor – FSEJ, the title of docent in organisation and management with orientation on meta-organization and sustainability
PhD Oscar Henriksson – FNT, the title of docent in high-energy and gravitational physics
FD Åsa Mickwitz – FPV, the title of docent in Pedagogy, oriented towards multilingualism and learning.
D.Soc.Sc Mikaela Heikkilä – FSEJ, the title of docent in law with focus on public international law
PhD Karl Fredrik Norrback – FHPT, the title of docent in Medical Psychology

–We value bringing ambitious docents to Åbo Akademi University. It strengthens the conditions for achieving our strategic goals. Through their specialised expertise, the docents can contribute to research, education and collaboration with society, says Stenius.

Upon application, the Chancellor of Åbo Akademi University may grant the title of docent to a person who has a doctoral degree and in-depth knowledge of his or her subject area and who has demonstrated through publications or in some other way his or her ability to conduct independent research or artistic work and has good teaching skills. To be admitted as a docent requires, as a rule, that the applicant, in addition to his or her doctoral thesis, has scientific publications that in scope and quality at least correspond to another doctoral thesis and are relevant to the subject area. The title of docent is granted until further notice.
