New Nordic Double Degree programme for Master’s students in Information Technologies

This autumn, the Nordic Master Programme in Intelligent Software Systems (NISS) will be starting at Åbo Akademi University. This is a programme which will give Master’s students in Information Technologies the opportunity to study parts of their education at another university and at the same time take a double degree.

The project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and will last for five years. A total of ten students per year will be admitted, divided among the three universities.

NISS is a cooperation project between Åbo Akademi University in Finland, Mälardalens högskola in Sweden and University of Reykjavik. The programme invites students who are already enrolled to the Master’s programme in Information Technologies at Åbo Akademi University to study parts of their programme in Sweden or on Iceland. The purpose of NISS is to develop the students’ ability to build and handle complex and large software systems and infrastructures, with an international perspective.

The first year of the Double Degree Master’s programme will be at the student’s home university. After the first year they can choose to study for one semester or for the entire year at one of the other two universities.

On completion of their studies students will receive a double degree, either in Information Technologies at the Åbo Akademi University, Computer Science at Reykjavik University, or Software Engineering or Intelligent Embedded Systems at Mälardalen.

The application period for NISS is in progress and will continue up to and including 1 April.
