The Tech & Concentration of Power Committee, of which Sepinoud Azimi is a member, is part of the IEEE’s initiative to develop a roadmap to consider the contribution of Artificial Intelligence Systems to the distribution or concentration of power within society, and to outline how they can advance technology for the benefit of humanity rather than advancing the power of a small group of people alone.

”Autonomous and intelligent systems can contribute to the distribution or concentration of power in society. New technology can be developed for the benefit of human well-being but also advance the power of a small elite. These are important ethical factors that experts working with these technologies need to be aware of and take into account”, Sepinoud Azimi explains.

“This is a unique opportunity for Åbo Akademi University to follow and influence the development of artificial intelligence and autonomous systems on an international level in an inclusive and ethical direction”, says Johan Lilius, Professor of Information Technology at Åbo Akademi University.
