FNT appoints new Dean from KTH

PhD Patrik Henelius is the new Dean of The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Åbo Akademi University. Henelius comes to ÅAU from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where he is Professor and Deputy Head of Department in Physics.

This is the first time Åbo Akademi University appoints a Dean from external applicants. That said, the new Dean has good knowledge of ÅAU. Henelius got his Master’s degree at Åbo Akademi University in 1993, and is at the moment visiting the university on a sabbatical. Henelius has twice been named ”Teacher of the year” at KTH.

Henelius replaces Tapio Salmi from 1 January 2019. The period for the mandate as Dean is four years and reaches until 31 December 2022.
