Application to become Internal Centre of Excellence 2019-2023 open
Åbo Akademi University has announced a new application round for Internal Centres of Excellence in Research for the period 1.3.2019-28.2.2023. The Internal Centres of Excellence are aimed to keep the research at ÅAU internationally top-ranked. The recently announced period is the fourth since 2006.
“The aim of the Centre of Excellence Programme is to support our researchers and Research Groups when they compete for support from the most demanding funding sources, such as the European Research Council, other EU programs and the Academy of Finland”, Åbo Akademi University’s rector Mikko Hupa says.
In order to be chosen as an internal Centre of Excellence, the group of researchers needs a joint and far-reaching Activity and Research Plan. The appointed Centres of Excellence share strategic funding of up to 1 500 000 € a year.
The funding is provided by the Åbo Akademi University Foundation and channeled through its Research Institute. The board of the Research Institute appoints the Internal Centres of Excellence assisted by an international expert panel.
