Vice Rector Patrik Henelius awarded honorary doctorate by Kasetsart University in Thailand

Vice Rector Patrik Henelius has been awarded an honorary doctorate in Animal Health Technology by Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand. The distinction is conferred by the university’s Faculty of Veterinary Technology in recognition of Henelius’ contributions to international academic collaboration.

The honorary degree was presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn during Kasetsart University’s Royal Graduation Ceremony on October 9, 2025.

Researchers at Åbo Akademi and Kasetsart University have long maintained a research partnership. Recently, they have also developed a joint double degree programme in the fields of Animal Health Technology at Kasetsart University and Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Åbo Akademi.

“It is a great honour to receive this distinction, and I look forward to continuing to strengthen our international partnership,” says Henelius.

Kasetsart University Thailand’s largest university with close to 90 000 students and 37 faculties. In recent years, the university and the Faculty of Veterinary Technology has intensified its international efforts, and here  the collaboration with Åbo Akademi University plays a central role.
