The Rectorate moves to the Main Building

The Rectorate, the Executive Administrative Office and University Services’ directors will together relocate to ÅAU’s Main Building, next to Tuomiokirkkontori in Turku. The move is a part of the university’s ongoing properties work.

“The building’s role has been discussed and both the organization and the public’s view has been clear in this matter. There’s great symbolic value in the placement of the main building, whose stately facade marks the start of the campus area. At the same time we must remember that the university’s core operations know where the collected management is and have access to it. The address might change, but the threshold must be and remains low”, says Rector Mikael Lindfelt.

The building will first undergo a renovation, scheduled to be finished before the end of the year. The renovation, in turn, means that those currently working in the main building will have to move out before midsummer. The ones affected by the move will receive more detailed information from their supervisors within this week.
