The Åbo Akademi University Foundation Sells Arken
The Åbo Akademi University Foundation has sold the property complex Arken, located at Tehtaankatu 2 in Turku, to Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt Oy for 43.25 million euros. The buyer already owns several properties used for education and research purposes.
Åbo Akademi University is a long-term tenant at Arken, and its operations will not be affected by the change of ownership. The sale is part of the foundation’s long-term strategy to reduce its real estate holdings.
The Arken complex comprises several separate factory buildings constructed between 1857 and 2003. The older buildings were fully renovated between 2001 and 2004 to accommodate educational and research activities. The complex is used by Åbo Akademi University.
