SHUREA work team seeks a project coordinator

The Institute for Human Rights at Åbo Akademi University opens a position as Project Coordinator for the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020, within the project Strengthening Human Rights Research and Education in Sub-Saharan Africa (SHUREA).

SHUREA is a development project that is funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of FInland. The Institute for Human Rights coordinates the project in cooperation with four African partner universities in South Africa, Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya.

The Project Coordinator will work as a part of the SHUREA work team and will participate actively in the coordination and administration of the project. The tasks include for instance: 1) organizing researcher exchange, including reception, travel administration for the guest researchers and continuous support, and 2) implementing the project’s communication plan, including developing and updating SHUREA web site, producing news letters and publishing project news on social media.

The Project Coordinator is required to have a relevant Master’s degree with focus on human rights or equivalent. The successful candidate should have excellent skills in spoken and written English and good interactive and cooperation skills. Experience from international cooperation and knowledge in Swedish and Finnish are considered merits.
