The Institute for Human Rights at Åbo Akademi University seeks a Project Researcher for the period of 1 September 2019 to 31 October 2021 within the research project RECONNECT.
RECONNECT (Reconciling Europe with its Citizens through Democracy and the Rule of Law) is a four-year multidisciplinary Horizon 2020 research project, aimed at understanding and providing solutions to the recent challenges faced by the European Union. With an explicit focus on strengthening the EU’s legitimacy through democracy and the rule of law, RECONNECT seeks to build a new narrative for Europe, enabling the EU to become more attuned to the expectations of its citizens. The Institute for Human Rights at Åbo Akademi University is one of the academic partner institutions of the project. All in all, there are 18 academic partner institutions from 14 countries.
The main tasks of the Project Researcher are to do research within the focal areas of the RECONNECT project. The Project Researcher will work especially with Work Package 13, which focuses on migration. The Project Researcher is in charge of reporting to the Project Coordinator and of the internal as well as external communication within the project.
The Project Researcher is required to have a doctoral degree in law or in social sciences and to have excellent knowledge in EU law and/or EU migration policy. Experience of empirical research and multidisciplinary collaboration as well as pedagogical competence are considered merits. We are looking for highly motivated, self-driven candidates that are able to work independently but also collaborate with other research groups. Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written, are expected.
