Data Privacy

The Cultura archive preserves cultural and historical collections, some of which contain personal data. Cultura functions as an archival repository for materials collected and created through humanities research at ÅAU, i.e. receives research materials for further processing for archival purposes. In legal terms, a collection of personal data is referred to as a register, and the person or institution upholding the register as a data controller. The data controller for all Cultura’s registers is Åbo Akademi University. The personal data included in the archive material and associated contextual information belong to one of the following three registers: the archive collections themselves, the informant register or the donor register.

These notices refer to material that has already been archived at Cultura – the collection of research material itself is a separate process, with its own data protection notice provided by the researcher responsible, or by Cultura when, for example, we publish an open questionnaire online.
