The European Universities Initiative of the European Commission supports long term structural and strategic cooperation between European universities, with the aim to create an attractive and competitive European Education Area.

Åbo Akademi University is a member of the CHARM-EU European University Alliance since 2022. CHARM-EU consists of nine member universities:

CHARM-EU aims to co-create a new, innovative model for European Higher Education in line with the European Values, the European Green Deal and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. This includes developing challenge-based educational and research programmes together with regional and international partners from academia, business and society.

Mobility is strongly encouraged, fostering a vibrant global community driven by curiosity, innovation and cultural exchange. The alliance cooperation creates opportunities for both researchers, teaching staff, professionals and students to network, exchange, develop joint activities and skills with colleagues within – and beyond – the alliance.
