Join us and celebrate the opening of the academic year at Åbo Akademi!

The Opening Ceremony of the Academic Year 2021–2022 will be held on Thursday 9 September 2021.

As is tradition, the Opening Ceremony will take place in the Ceremonial Hall of the Old Academy Building in Turku. Speakers include Rector Moira von Wright and Joonas Karlsson, Chair of the Board of the Student Union. Several awards will be presented, including the Chancellor’s Prizes and the Harry Elving Legacy awards.

No audience on site but everyone is welcome to follow the ceremony via livestream on 9 September at 15:15.

An Opening Day church service will be held at the Turku Cathedral on 9 September at 14:15. Everyone is welcome to join the service on site in the church or via this livestream link.
