Collar or Brooch (Doctors of Technology)
The insignias for Doctors of Technology at Åbo Akademi University include an embroidered velvet collar (for men) or a brooch (for women), which is fastened to the dress.
The velvet collar is sewn on to the tail coat so that it covers the collar.
The brooch is to be worn on the left side of the chest.

Academic traditions: Doctoral conferral ceremony
At the ceremony, Honorary Doctors, Jubilee Doctors and those with an ÅAU doctoral degree are conferred and receive the insignia for their respective degrees.
