Tony Pellfolk is the new Director of Strategy and Planning at Åbo Akademi University
At its meeting on 28 August 2026, the Board of Åbo Akademi University appointed PhD Tony Pellfolk as the university’s new Director of Strategy and Planning. Beside a PhD in pediatrics from Umeå University, Sweden, Pellfolk has a master’s degree in health sciences from Åbo Akademi. He is currently Divisional Director of the Wellfare Services County of Ostrobothnia.
The director of strategy and planning will lead and develop the university’s strategic planning, operational planning, and overall management control. The director also has the overall responsibility for the departments of Human Resources and Communications. The director holds a central position within the university’s administrative leadership and works closely with the rector, the executive group, and the other directors.
Tony Pellfolk will assume the position in November 2026.
