The Research Council of Finland grants over €3.5 million to research at Åbo Akademi University

The Research Council of Finland has awarded funding for new positions as Academy Research Fellows and for Academy Projects. In this round, research at Åbo Akademi University was successful in the fields of psychology, law, business administration, linguistics, and ecology.

Both the Academy Research Fellow positions and the Academy Project funding are granted for four years.

Within the field of culture and society, the following Åbo Akademi researchers received funding:

Annika Gunst is funded with €603,834 for a position as Academy Research Fellow. Gunst will work on the project ”Psychological Reactance to Inclusivity Efforts on Sexual and Gender Minorities: Causes and Mitigation Strategies” in psychology.

Taina Välimaa is funded with €489,757 for the consortium project “Listening for their Future: The Complex Associations between Hearing, Cognition, Spoken Language, Literacy and Psychosocial Wellbeing in Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Adolescents?” The project in linguistics is led by the University of Oulu.

Thomas Carrington is funded with €375,960 for the project “The Judgment of Structure: Professional Reasoning in the Age of Datafication” in Business and management.

Lise Eriksson is funded with €340,211 for the project ”JustISA Surrogacy Agreements and Interdisciplinary Pathways to Minimum Justice: A Comparative Study of Finland, Colombia and Greece” in law. The project is led by the University of Lapland.

Within the field of biosciences, health and the environment, Giannina Hattich is funded with €699,997 for a position as Academy Research Fellow for the project “Climate-driven Dispersal, risk or potential for Arctic diversity?”. Hattich works in ecology and evolutionary biology.

Within the field of natural sciences and engineering, Jonne Niemi is funded with 699 319 € for a position as Academy Research Fellow for the project “Investigation and modelling of ash deposit-induced dynamic alloy corrosion in thermal and chemical gradients” in Materials engineering.

Kari Eränen is funded with 475 410 € for the consortium project “Intensified catalysis through combined 3D printing and ALD” in Chemical engineering. The consortium leader is Aalto-university.
