Åbo Akademi University follows authorities’ instructions in threatening situations
Åbo Akademi University has updated its guidelines on how staff and students should act in threatening situations where the authorities advise people to remain at home or avoid movement in or near the university’s campuses and facilities.
The guidelines apply, for example, to situations where the authorities warn of risks such as drone threats, explosion hazards, or gas leaks.
The key principle is that the university always follows the authorities’ instructions and adapts its operations in line with authority assessments of the situation.
In such situations, work and teaching may, for instance, be moved online, university premises closed, or people on campus instructed to remain indoors or to evacuate the area.
The safety of ÅAU students, staff, and visitors is always the highest priority. In threatening situations, everyone is urged to follow official announcements and the university’s communication channels.
Staff and students are also encouraged to use the Emergency Response Centre’s mobile app 112 Suomi, as well as the Tuudo app. Where necessary, Åbo Akademi University may also send its own emergency notifications via Tuudo.
