Archive Collections return to Turku city centre: Temporary Service Closure

We kindly ask archive users to take the closure 3.1-31.8.27 into account well in advance and plan their use of the archive services before the relocation period.

The Archive Collections at Åbo Akademi University Library will return to the historic Library Building which is currently undergoing renovation. As a result, all archive services will be closed from 1 March to 31 August 2027. Minor changes to the schedule may occur.

During the closure, the Archive Collections and the Library’s rare book collections will be relocated to the renovate Library Building. Once the relocation has been completed, the collections will again be accessible to the public. The renovated facilities will provide appropriate premises for the preservation, management, and accessibility of valuable cultural heritage materials.

Letters and photos of Westermarck
Archival treasures of great cultural and historical significance – such as Edward Westermark’s letters and photographs (pictured) – will be housed in suitable storage facilities.

The archive services will reopen in September 2027
