Åbo Akademi University, the Minority Research Profile and the Coimbra Group, Interdisciplinary Conference: “Interfacing Minorities: Creative Hybridity and Unexpected Environments

As part of Åbo Akademi University’s Centennial celebrations, the Faculty of Arts, Psychology and Theology in conjunction with the Minority Research Profile will be hosting the interdisciplinary conference in collaboration with the Coimbra Group’s working group in Social Sciences and Humanities.

The emphasis of the seminar will be on positive outcomes, innovations, and solutions arising from the creative friction experienced by minority groups coming into contact with similarly positioned and larger communities. With this in mind the event will include plenary addresses by international scholars and media figures working in the field, discussion panels and the presentation of scholarly papers on topics which will include ‘Minorities in an Interdisciplinary World’, ‘Literary and Linguistic Interfaces: Shared Spaces in Minority Studies’, ‘Minorities and New Narratives of Belonging’, ‘Minorities and Commons’.

The event will take place in the Sibelius Museum, Piispankatu 17, 20500 Turku.
